Beautiful Day for a Walk at Old Stone Fort

It was a great day indeed, when we hit the trail - walking the 1.3 miles around the ancient ceremonial field along Indian mounds dating around 2,000 years old.  We caught some of the early wild flowers in our camera lenses, as well as some shots of the falls of the two forks of the Duck River as it is coming off the Highland Rim.

Old Stone Fort State Park is one of those jewels that is easy to overlook among the natural splendors of our part of Tennessee, but it is well worth the trip.  Our crew was a little late to make a visit to the museum - that will have to wait for another time.

It was especially nice to be joined by Melissa and JosEllyn Turrentine, friends of MaryAnn and Andy, from nearby Normandy.  Melissa, a teacher, has been a naturalist who has worked, in part years, at some of our state parks.  She was handy to have along for wildflower identification.

We were all handy at eating ice cream at Baskin and Robbins after the walk.
