Next Christian Book Club Meeting

We had a very small but intimate rendering of "The Journey" by Billy Graham.  We all agreed that sometimes you have to revisit your tenets of faith to realize the areas in which you have strayed.  We all felt that it was time well spent discussing the high points of the book.

Next Christian Book Club Meeting

We had a really good time sharing the questions on the book, Song of my Soul by Ginny Aiken.  I broke up the questions and gave them out so others could get in on the act.  It really freed up the conversation.  The next book is The Journey by Billy Graham.  We have them in stock, so come and get them.  The book club will meet at 7:00pm on June 28th, or the last Thursday of the month.  Come join the fun at the Book Brake.

Chess is coming to Cowan!!!

This summer the Cowan Chess Association, a nonprofit corporation chartered in Tennessee, is pleased to offer chess to kids in elementary, middle, and high school as well as adults. ( By the way, you're never too old to learn how to play this vital game.  It can stave off senility as well.)

We will have free lessons for beginners and experienced players.

The dates for the rest of the year from the Christian Book Club

We're due to have a book club meeting this Thurs. evening (May 31st) at 7:00 pm.  We're reading Song of my Soul by Ginny Aiken.  It promises to be a lively discussion as I have encorporated new stuff in the talks.  Come one come all, even if you haven't read the book to find out what it's all about.  We'll make a reader out of you!

Great Sendoff for Concluding 1 Corinthians Bible Study Thursday Night

Sherwood Ebey's class ended this week with a closing session that dealt with, among other things, how churches share their love with one another through their mission. It was fitting that our own group represented several of the churches in our area – not just members of the Fellowship Church. These people expressed their gratitude for making this study available to them, which just goes to show the special joy we enjoy when we open our life as a congregation to others.

Christian Book Club March 30

We had a really good meeting on February 24th.  There were only 5 or 6 of us, but the conversation was stimulating about Yancy's book "Soul Survivor".  We're planning on March 30th @ 7:00 pm going over "The Preacher's Daughter" by Beverly Lewis.  It's a series and I have ordered more of the 2nd and 3rd books in the series. If you haven't read it, it's worth your while.  But you'll be hooked on Beverly Lewis' writing.  Come and have good conversations with people from Cowan and beyond.

Smithsonian Exhibit and Cowan Photo Display

If you haven't been down to the Cowan Performance Arts Center to see this, you should check it out.  The photography of working people is spectacular.  In addition to the Smithsonian traveling exhibit, there is a whole section dedicated to Cowan and the life of the town as it has been in

Cowan, Demographics Reports, and Our Mission in Christ

We have some very interesting demographic reports that have been generated by MissionInsite - a service available to us through the Presbytery of Middle Tennessee.  I contacted the MissionInsite people, and there is no copyright violation in making this information available to the public, as well as the leaders of the Cowan Fellowship Church!  Check it out in my full article that has the reports attached.  Click here.
