Book Brake Christian Book Club

We had a real good book club on Thursday Oct. 27th at 7:00 pm and discussed "The Weeping Chamber".  We are setting up to have the next

Book Club on Nov. 18th instead of 17th to avoid the Bible study and Thanksgiving.  We are reading "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" by

Mitch Albom.  We still have books available for purchase to use in the Book Club or just to read.  It's a short read due to the short time we have

to read it.  Once again we welcome you to come check it out without reading the book, but you get so much more out of it if you do read.

We are in the process of moving out on the main street.  We're waiting for the space to be converted to meet our needs.  Then we will begin moving the books and shelves.  If you like to help, we could use some strong backs and arms. With only one good hand, I'm not much help moving, but I can coordinate with those who would like to help.  Contact me or Tom if you can spare some time to help with the move.  Thank you and may God bless.

We are taking a Christmas hiatus to allow the Book Brake to move.

The last Friday in January through whenever the Bible study finishes,

then we will revert back to the last Thursday of the month.

The next Christian Club meeting will be held on:

January 27th at 7:00pm at the new home of the Book Brake.

We will be discussing the book The Last Disciple

by Hank Hanegraaff and Sigmund Brouwer

Warning the views of the book might not be your own.

We are airing the book to get some controversy started which should

make for some interesting conversation.

Come join us to see what transpires.

The book can be purchased at the Book Brake.

See you there.

We had a really good meeting on February 24th.  There were only 5 or 6 of us, but the conversation was stimulating about Yancy's book "Soul Survivor".  We're planning on March 30th @ 7:00 pm going over "The Preacher's Daughter" by Beverly Lewis.  It's a series and I have ordered more of the 2nd and 3rd books in the series. If you haven't read it, it's worth your while.  But you'll be hooked on Beverly Lewis' writing.  Come and have good conversations with people from Cowan and beyond.  There are several churches involved.  You can get the book(s) at the Book Brake at their new location on Cumberland right next to the bakery.  See you there.

We had a good time on Friday March 30th.  We discussed the book The Preacher's Daughter.  The book was so good that several of us read The Englisher and The Brethern as well.  The 2nd and 3rd books are circulating now.

We're reading a book about incorporating Evangelism into your every day walk.  It's called Out of the Salt Shaker by Rebecca Pippert.  It's still not too late to read it.  It's a relatively short read.

We'll be meeting on Thurs nights again now that the Bible study was completed.  Our next meeting will be April 26th, at the Book Brake at 7:00 pm.  Come to share even if you didn't read the book.  The discussion should be lively with many views expressed.  It is an open discussion and you never know what will be said.

Next month's selection is: Song of my Soul by Ginny Aiken.

We hope to see you there!

We had a really good discussion on Out of the Salt Shaker.  We discussed methods we have used to include outsiders into the fold.  It was really refreshing to get everyone's comments.  We strayed from the book, per se, and felt free to discuss whatever was on our minds.  This is so freeing and we encourage others to take the step and join us for our discussions.

The next book is Song of my Soul by Ginny Aiken.  We will meet on Thurs. May 31st at 7:00 pm at the Book Brake.

Your invited to come and join in even if you haven't read the book. We still have copies of the book available.
