Montgomery Cemetery Memorial Candlelight 2013 on Saturday, September 7

Once again, the people of Cowan are coming together to place candles on the memorial stones of the Montgomery Cemetery. This is one of those old cemeteries that has the old giant cedars that people in past generations planted to last for generations - giant evergreen trees that stand as symbols for the eternal life we long for in our faith - giving comfort and shelter in all seasons and all weathers.

The Governing Council voted Monday night to accept the bid of KK's in Tullahoma to install a new sound system in the sanctuary. The cost will be a little over $4,425.

Commemoration of Cowan Union and Confederate Troup Movements This Sunday

Sunday, June 30: Civil War Commemoration in Downtown Cowan. Join us for a community-wide recognition of the 150th Anniversary of Union and Confederate troop occupation in Cowan. The event begins at 1:00 p.m. in the railroad park at the depot with an opening ceremony, music, and remarks by local historians. A Civil War trail marker will also be installed as part of the program.

Musicians - Singers and Players - Wednesday Nights at 7

We started out back last year - 2012 - putting together music for worship with some of our people who play various musical instruments: piano, organ, flute, penny whistle, violin, guitar, banjo - whatever. When our piano player was out of pocket for a while, somebody suggested we start singing, and we haven't stopped singing since - even though we still use our instruments! So, whether you pick a guitar or sing, you are a musician, and we get together every Wednesday to put together the music for worship.
